Prototype v1.8 Coming Soon


Hey everyone! It's been a couple days since the last devlog so I'd like to take this time to say the 1.8 update for the prototype will be coming soon. I'm hoping to have it released by tomorrow (8/11) or Monday (8/12). Thank you for keeping up with Project Akumu!


Here's a sneak peak of the changelog as well as some screenshots.

New mechanics, UI Improvements, Bug and Performance Fixes

  • The player can now jump!
  • Game Size Reduced: 1.78gb
  • Enemy AI now spawn at specific points. 12 new spawn points have been added.
  • Added some new level pieces: trash cans, tree guards, railings, fire alarms, etc.
  • Trash Cans can be used to trash items you no longer want/need
  • Improved leaning (player can lean further than before and quicker)
  • Night counter is now functional
  • Added blood around the school that randomly appears over time
  • Major Performance Improvements (I'll continue to improve performance as updates progress)
    1. Removed tick from hundreds of actors
    2. Reduced some texture sizes from 2k to 1k
    3. Increased Texture Pool Size
    4. Enabled Virtual Texture Support
    5. Over 100 Textures Optimized
    6. Optimized Culling for Lighting
  • Improved inventory actions UI/Fixed minor bugs
  • Added light camera shake for interactions
  • Added Yen that you can pick up
  • More item spawn locations added
  • Added more intercoms to the school
  • Fixed Inventory Item Display
  • Removed Admin Building water
  • Updated School Progress: 38%
